Everyone I ask for recommendations on turbos all point me in the direction of Cooma Diesel Repairs in Fyshwick, so I guess that's pretty much it for the ACT??
Phone quote of $450 to re-kit T3 (bearings and seals I imagine, extra if shaft play is excessive) + $270 for hi-flow. Now everyone says "yeah, man hi-flow it" - but no point if I running near standard boost is there? My last Dyno tune measured 10.3 PSI, engine management is fully programmable Haltech, but I haven't done a hard run yet to assess what duty load the injectors are on. Non-intercooled so that is the priority before anything else and obviously needed before any more boost.

we had a similar problem with our diesel turbo, it was the PCV valve.
white/blue normally means turbo.

I removed my restrictive muffler, so my FJ20ET was running an almost
full-length, but unrestricted exhaust today. Go for a 10 min drive not
over
3.5k rpms and back in the driveway and after sitting there idling there's
clouds of white/blue smoke out the exahust. Shit i thought, no back
pressure has stuffed the turbo.

The motor has been known to blow a little blue smoke now and again I
thought previously this was valve stem seals, but most people advise it's
probably turbo oils seals. Anyway after few minutes the smoking stops. If
I
shut down and wait 10 mins there's no smoke on start-up. Is this oil from
the turbo feed getting into the turbo and burning off? I mean it is an
excessive amount of smoke - no smoke t when I'm actually driving, tho I
didn't drive away whilst it was pluming. 20 mins later I went for another
spin - up to 5.5 k rpms no smoke on run - then heaps when idling down in
drive way again. Didn't do this when the muffler was on, and I'll put it
back tomorrow and see if there's any difference.
