I have my starter button taking power from the
kill switch - as Mark K described. I chose not to use a toggle in between, but
mine is a race car. For the ignition I run a toggle switch though. This
effectively lets me turn the engine over without having to turn on the ignition
(or computer). Handy for doing compression checks and priming oil pressure in
the engine after rebuilds.
Mark.

Subject: starter switch and button
Guys I have a 1600 rally car
and I want to take out the ignition switch and replace it with a switch and
starter button.
Before I start does anyone
know how the ignition wire combinations work and what I should be connecting
to the switch and what goes to the button?
I also am running the
obligatory master kill switch between the battery and starter
motor.
