Most of you have probably seen the twin sprintex supercharged fj20 of paul martinis. Its never been on a dyno but paul conservativly estimates 700hp but from his times id say a bit more. The supercharges let it make power all the way but as paul says these engines have a slow point around 8000rpm that you have to get thru but they set theres up to run after that so they can keep it around 10,000rpm all the way down the track to get 7 sec quarters. They have plenty left to come from the engine but have never needed it as it has allways been the fastest 4 in the country. They have some fj24 heads and larger supercharges and an increase in capacity to come if anything starts to challenge.

Biggest HP I heard of for FJ20 was 900hp on an engine dyno. It all happened between 7,000 and 8,500 rpm. Engine was made for a drag car, not sure what it was though. The engine builder said it was like turning on a switch, the thing was either either on or off....no in between. It was only making some small amount of power (say 200bhp - can't remember exact figures) at 5,000rpm, then it started to climb - all hell broke loose at about 7,000rpm.

The Engine builder was Phil Rhyal (BRS Motorsports). He certainly knows his FJ20's, and it's just lucky that his engines are quicker than his service!

Hi list,

just an update on my mates 1200 ute. (ex Jeff watson FJ20)
was dynoed the other day (in Dec), on an engine dyno,
@ 25psi made 810hp, cost him approx $35,000, to make another 150hp.
i wish i had that sort of $ to throw around,
i hope to take some photos soon, but i don't think he'll let me?

as soon as he gets his new motec loom, you should all see it at the drags.
