The car is all together and it probably doesn't have a spigot bush as it was an auto. Obviously I have to pull the bush out of the spare L16 that I got the clutch and flywheel from. Damn shame, the Stanza is working fine now but I suppose the extra stresses on the gearbox input shaft will probably stuff the oil seal or something? I noticed a bit of sideways play in the shaft before assembly. I wish I had posted a "anything I should know about changing an auto to a manual box?" on the list - before I started. F$#k!

Getting it out is easy. I use a tap (thread cutting type). Just find an appropriate size, wind it into the bush and when the tap touches the crank, it simply winds the bush out. Try it, no mess and out in a couple of minutes.

hey what, i rekon its EASY  to put in , bugger to get out.

 

to get bush out, pack as much grease  as possible  in bush, then get socket/solid rod that  fits REAL neat in there, and give the rod etc a decent hard nock.

the ramming effect with rod creates a hydraulic action, that after a few taps pushes the bush out.

i`ve  done it this way a few tives and works really well..
