Mal,
Yeah, I got a cluster like that off you. Remember it had a broken trip odometer that wouldn't reset and a crack in the clear plastic that you said you would try and find a replacement for? How's that going?
As for whether the mod I described earlier fits, I only saw the assembly out of the vehicle, so you may be right - maybe. The dials on this 180B SSS cluster are blue-faced and rectangular, very unlike the one I bought off you. Your one had black-faced round dials and a speedo to 240 Kph. I think your one was made from Skyline C210 parts? Certainly yours is a better match in the 510 dash as it blends so nicely only a fellow Ozdatter could tell it wasn't stock :-P

NA PROBLEY WILL NOT FIT

I've only found W's in 810's...
But going by the parts you are saying is it out of a 810 (200Kph speedo gives it away).

I think a 510 dash cluster I done with 810SSS gauges went to ozzie?.

Subject: Instrument cluster mods, 180B SSS, TRX 5-speed

Hi all,
scored a 180B SSS motor on the weekend. There is no "W" on the block number so I assume it is an earlier version which means the sump should fit in a 1600 (510). It came with W53 (big port) head, twin "square-top" SU's ("with provision for an electric choke" - said the seller) plus a blue airbox but no gearbox. The  guy threw in a Bluebird TRX 5-speed and the complete 180B SSS tacho dash with 200km/h speedo and trip odometer, all for a very cheap price.
Then he showed me an interesting dash mod you can do with your 510 if you're not interested in keeping it original. Around the dials of your 510 you will notice a recessed rectangle moulded into the fascia. Cut out this recessed part and insert a set of 180B SSS dials behind the fascia. Fits like it was meant to be! The 180B SSS dials I have have a dark blue background..nice.

By the way, how good is the TRX 5-speed box? I assume it's better or stronger than a Stanza SSS, of which I have 2. Any idea whether the TRX box has closer ratios than the Stanza SSS?

Cheers,
Rob P
