Hahahhahahha.... Brad, I manufactured compact discs for a living not long ago... it costs single figure cents to manufacture each component in a cd package when your making the volumes that record companies do... Think along the lines of about 6 cents per piece of a CD jewel case (18 cents), about the same for the disc it'self, and a few more cents to print the booklet. The machine that assembles the whole lot looks like a minature jungle gym made of aluminium and runs on little tubes of compressed air and suction cup fingery looking things.. One man supervises it's operation by loading more pieces into each input bin every 10 minutes or so.. That's it!!!!!!!!
Think about this then mate.. A $30 compact disc contains about 40 cents worth of packaging.
