Why the hell would police care if your ripping off music from the web or copying CDs you already bought?? The cops around here probably do it themselves. They are too busy writing out speeding tickets & whatnot to bother raiding people's homes looking to make the average Joe into a criminal.. I'm a pretty normal bloke, but they could probably find enough bottles of draino in my cupboard to make me out to be a bomb factory..
If you were copying them and selling them at the markets then that's another story. These days it's possible to buy a $50 DVD drive for your computer, rent a $5 new release from the video shop and rip every DVD in sight down to 30cent VCD discs. The technology is there to do it, and people will always do it because it's cheap. And I know this sounds utterly stupid, but on occasions I have downloaded MP3's and then gone out and bought the CD just so I can have good sound quality, or listen to the entire album, etc.. MP3 is not completely the parasite they believe it is. Same goes for DVDs I guess. Sometimes you just gotta buy it if you want a decent copy. Oh, and I buy my CD's by the 500 carton too...
