A L16 with a Z18 head wouldn't go real well in NA form - CR is around 7.8:1
with stock pistons and you may scrape in 8.8 with flat tops. As Malcolm
said, great for a hair drier. They go great on a L20B engine but you need a
Z20 timing cover.

you have to use the Z front timming cover but why??

Z engines are a detuned L engine's.  hence the turbo ,, thats the only way
to get any power from them.
