yeah my car was a spare body for a rally guy One other thing that i was wondering about is the correct oil to run in the carbs. at the moment I am pretty sure they have engine oil in them as thats what the mechanic who originally got it running for me said he put in them. (engine wasnt running when i bought the car)
maybe they should have a lighter oil ? anyway I will ask the other Jeff this afternoon. cheers Jeff You will be pleased to see how easy tuning SU's are when you watch your mate do it, assuming he has some experience. I know how frustrating it is when you get a motor, or body for that matter, that has the wrong type of bolts in it. Every time you give it a big rev (especially rallying in a remote forest at night), you are wondering if a rod will let go, or the flywheel will fall off, or the rear crossmember will fall out - I've had the last one happen, at 2.00am, deep in a forest. Tomorrow I'm picking up another 1600 which has a Datrally engine. I'm hoping it hasnt been tampered with. The seller assures me it hasnt, but the rest of the car is pretty rough, so who knows. For $500, its worth it just for the webers, extractors, gearbox, and good suspension bits. I'm hoping the engine and other bits are a bonus! ---- Original Message ----- From: Jeff Oldham <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, July 16, 2004 6:26 AM Subject: RE: no. 4 spark plug coroded > Rick, > > that makes sense to me. > A mate is going to help me tune the carbs & engine this weekend. > so we will see if we can get it set-up a bit better than I had it. > > PS this will make you laugh > I have had a slight weep at the cam cover. > tried tightening the bolts & it turns out that 2 of them are roofing screws > :) > its funny what people will do when their fixing things :) > > jeff > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of rclough > Sent: Thursday, 15 July 2004 8:21 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: no. 4 spark plug coroded > > > A lateral thought.
