Yeah, it's only a waterpump gasket you gotta replace if it's not that &
it beats doing a head gasket later on if it is!!

I had thought about that but not acted on it I thought maybe the pump
could even be cavitating. I guess that's the next item to check. Thanks
for the idea.

Stupid question dude, but are you sure your water pump is working? I've
had a water pump shear the drive-shaft and even tho the pulley was
turning the blades inside it weren't.

Might be worth cracking the gasket open to suss it out!!!

I got a 4 core job made up with 1600 top and bottom tanks and it doesn't
feel really hot from the outside, the radiator was put in two events ago
but I had the temp trouble before then.

I haven't flushed the cooling system for a while and was wondering if
the blockage could be from that.

I was thinking of trying a brass plate instead of a thermostat and
drilling a hole in the middle to have a constant flow.

have u felt the radiator with your hand, to see if it is getting
excessicely hot? have u tried it without a thermostat, to see if
anything different happens ? mark k

Hi guys any help greatly accepted.

I have a mild L18 in my rally car running twin 40mm Webbers and a crow
cam.

I have had the car dyno tuned, change thermostats twice, taken the
engine fan off and replaced it with an electric fan. Change temp gauges
twice.

The temp gauges are electronic but all read well into the red when going
hard through stages etc or even if left idling long enough too.

I am wondering if I need to put the heater box back in to actually put
more water in the system to run a normal temp range.

Any idea's. I am running a tectaloy/water coolant mix.
