hi jeff,

the most important thing is how fast you can complete that hill climb.it does not matter what sped you doing.i think with the 5.1 you will cover the distance faster compared to 3.8

correct me if im wrong.im only saying this coz i tried it already in my mini.at one time i had 4.3 and now i have 3.9 diff

anyway, what about the LD20 eng 720 van will this have that 5.1 diff.

have a nice day guys.

Mohit.

Thanks Terry

Thats not so bad actually for short circuit & hillclimb work.
The bike computer that I bought & installed in my 1600 tells me the maximum speed i attain at the mt cotton hill climb is about 98k's with what i think is a std 1600 diff (3.8 ?) so the 5.1 would definitely be great there & should improve my times.

For tracks like queensland raceway with those big long straights it would be too high for a performance engine, but seeing as how mine is still stock it would probably be OK there as well.

So looks like I am going to put that 720 diff on my shopping list :)

thanks again Jeff

Jeff,

If a 1600 came out of the factory with a 5.1 diff the top speed would have been 90 mph or 145 kph @ 6800 rpm which is 5 mph slower than the stocker did in 3rd gear at the same revs.

Regards
Terry
