little electrical issues..

Hi, I am having trouble getting my wipers to work in my 1600.. When I first tried to get them going nothing happened and the wiper motor got very hot to touch, I was thinking maybe it could be because my car is a 68 model and I don’t know what year car the loom I’m using is from, does anyone know whether the loom differed at all between the different styles of wipers?? I checked to see what each of the 5 pins on the plug was with a multimeter and there is a power and earth wire and the three other wires read nothing.. This doesn’t change no matter what spot you have the switch in… Has anyone got any ideas how I could get them running??
