Part of the answer probably is that the wipers have to keep going after you operate the dash switch, to park the wipers at the lowered position.  This means the wiper motor must have a second power supply to operate it after the wiper switch is turned off.  The second power supply feeds the motor until the motor rotates this feed contact past an isolated position each revolution (the parked location).  The wiper switch overrides the isolated supply when its turned on, providing continuous supply to the motor.

I have emailed Luke to see if he knows how the wiring works.  I am pretty sure the 68 model wiper motor is different in its wiring connections to the later (aussi built) model.

Can you get a wiring diagram?

Subject: little electrical issues..

Hi,

I am having trouble getting my wipers to work in my 1600.. When I first tried to get them going nothing happened and the wiper motor got very hot to touch, I was thinking maybe it could be because my car is a 68 model and I don’t know what year car the loom I’m using is from, does anyone know whether the loom differed at all between the different styles of wipers??

I checked to see what each of the 5 pins on the plug was with a multimeter and there is a power and earth wire and the three other wires read nothing.. This doesn’t change no matter what spot you have the switch in…

Has anyone got any ideas how I could get them running??

Any help would be great,

Thanks,

Mark
