The
N/A FJ powered ones with R180 had discs as well. I have never seen an R30 with
universals. All the R30's have either 23 spline (R180) or
29 spline (Early R200 long nose) and both use CV shafts.
As Terry said, the R180 is 80mm between bottom
bolts on the rear plate and early long pinion R200 would be around 100mm from
memory.
Cooling fins were fitted to long nose R200's with
clutch LSD in Leopards and GTSR's and maybe other high performance
models.

in a R30 Skyline - I'm thinking that those with R200's all had disc rear ends,
R180's had drums and both had CV's, cant recall ever seeing a rear end in a R30
with uni joints. Errol?
Otherwise on the R180 the distance between the lower 2 bolts on the
backing plate is 80mm (centre bolt to centre bolt) - the R200 is a big pumpkin,
come in different length pinion housings with. cooling fins on the rear
cover.
Ratdat
website has a picture of the R160 (60mm between the lower bolts) and an R200
(looks like could be a 300ZX type) side by side - best that I can do for
now.

Terry
