Kris,
I'm no
Holden expert by any means but most of my mates with them & 253's) ague this
out a lot. Most of them still use good old GTX2 (20w/50) in them as they find
the Gen3 oils (and most of them have tried one of them or another) are too thin
and you fill up the oil & check the petrol. Holden engines of that era just
are aren't built to the same tolerances as even the run of the mill Japanese
engine.
Regards,
Terry
Hi All,
I have
a question regarding oil specs. I have a 308 and the recomended oil is a 20w50
(using 25w60 at the moment). The new Mobil 1 that is available is now a
5w50.
My question is; is this oil suitable considering
they are both rated a "50" at operating temp?
One benefit is it will have better start up
protection being only a "5w" and possibly better fuel economy as well. My
only concern was oil pressure at ideal when hot but i`m assuming there
won`t be any difference.
I`m also heading upto Queensland at Easter so
thought it would be good to put it in.
Cheers,
Kris
