The RB25 DET box is similar to the MX7 but shares few common parts.
They  are similar but the RB box is stronger and an obvious preference if you see them strripped.

Problem is the same everywhere. I think DET's are destroying boxes with very high power outputs and very fast/hard changes :) This dries up the oboxes available.
The fix for DET owners is the RB25 box adaption. For DE owners there is not much of a problem apart from box availability.

Thanks Errol,

I have got more ca18 engines & boxes available at the right price than you can poke a stick at, but do you think that I can find a reasonable priced SR20de in brisbane !!!

Cheers Jeff

Jeff,
The CA box uses a longer mainshaft and extension housing than most boxes. They also use different shifter forks, bearing sizes/grades and different width gears.

The older boxes have small bearings. Normally I go the other way and fit Skyline RB30 N/A or SR boxes to early L4's and L6's.

I have just finished a hybrid MR30 stumpy skyline housing with crack tested 260Z gears and also an RB30 gear set into an early housing using the early output shaft.
