I guess you could find some arguments already when using a search engine
and the terms "openness android development". :)

Also, in the recently released "Open Governance Index" (see
http://www.visionmobile.com/research.php#OGI ) Android has by far the
lowest percentage, plus its license type is considered "permissive" by
the authors, while the packages provided by Mer mostly (all?) have a
"copyleft" license (the Mer maintainers could elaborate, as I can
imagine most companies to prefer LGPL to something like GPL).
