I like the captain's insignia-inspired one. I *really* like the sail. That shape could also scale very well right down to favicon size.

I don't think the next idea is on the table, probably for a good reason, but I've always really liked the "mer+white bubbles on deep blue" logo. Has anyone tried doing "nemo" in that same font in place of "mer"? With the bubbles, etc?

quixote.

Nice logo, I love the idea, and the colors, but I think that the font need more work.

I also added a tag to Grog, so that one can see all the logos

too related to the sea and i didnt understood the captain
        insignia logo, but . . .

My initial perception was close to Unown, a creature made by
Nintendo that consist in only lines and a circle with a dot in
the middle(like an eye). In Google Images are many froms of
"Unown", since this creature is irregular.

I want to know if i can take this logo and ask the people
around me what do they think about it  or i should keep the
conversation to the Merproject mailing list.

A good logo has a story (the sea, the captain insignia), a
good logo is distinct and memorable (unlike any other), a
good logo is legible and scalable (in any size, with or
without colors) and finally, a good logo inspire ideas and
feelings ( I'm the captain of my soul, in this case, I' have
        the control of my device)

Create a logo is really hard, you need to put in a small
place, the ideas and the principles that you want communicate
to the world, I think that this logo
        (http://play.qwazix.com/grog/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/nemo3.png)
is close to reach these objectives, some aspects, like the
colors or the font are debatable, but I think that the
concept behind this logo is the correct.

P.S. I'm the creator of the logo ;)

It seems i returned back to life this topic : P.

I know it is just an opinion, but when i visit
tech-related events, i watch people that wears colorful
clothing. I know that a pet or an animal-based logo may
not be suitable for many projects, but i was thinking
that a stingray like the Blue-Spotted Stingray (Taeniura
            lymma), would be cool.

Apple(old apple logo), eBay, Google, there are many
companies that dont stick to a single color.
