"It's cool!". Ruby community loves cool stuff. Seriously, 1.9 won't be ready for production this X-mas. Focused on m17n, it has most of open bugs against related features. Focused on performance, it has performance regressions. Have a glance at ruby-core topics or tracker. I know a few people who write custom network protocols using EventMachine and they use 1.9 AFAIK because of fibers. In that domain, it's a killer feature to have. For web apps, Rubinius with MVM that promises shared memory and Erlang style message passing between applications is way more important. So 1.9 is for X-mas... what X-mas? Nobody knows, it's just like Perl 6. It's for X-mas. 2010 or 2011? Hopefully 2012. -- MK --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "merb" group.
