It was more of a sound bite than a critique. No one said the learning
is 'not transferrable'. I just said it was limited, or at least, it
feels limited. I know that I have several apps released and I have not
moved to the latest merb yet because, without some work, old versions
don't run with new versions of merb installed. I have recently
installed the later merbs in a silo so they won't impact my current
development on older sites (old being defined less than 6mo).

Moving fast is good, but there may be a too fast. I think you
recognized that with the introduction of an API. There are several new
features in merb that I will have to learn (hear the non transferrable
part here?). As I understand it, routes are new. Then there's all this
talk about slices and nested controllers and the complexities that it
brings.

It may be that alot of general web programming (merb_helpers) does not
change, but the freight-train of merb_core keeps running me down as
soon as I get a chance to poke my head up and see what's coming next.

But, I don't mind you guys moving fast. I'm just one person, and a dim
web person at that, so any movement would probably be too fast. Just
be pleased to know that on the hot days in Austin, I can stand by the
merb development tracks and be cooled by the rushing breeze as
merb_core races by. :)

Long live Merb, or Rails3, or whatever its called.

Jim
