Andrew, There are TWO metal lines that run from the fuel tank to the drivers side inner fender where two flexible lines connect the supply line to the inline fuel filter and the return line to the fuel return circuit (either from the large filter or from the return port on the injection pump). It is these two flexinle lines that are disconnected and immersed in the the Diesel Purge container.Does anyone have a diagram or photo which shows the hoses that should be disconnected and placed into the jar with the Diesel Purge?
It is important that the flex lines be reconnected to the correct steel lines so identify them and mark them in some way. If they are incorrectly connected, you will "run out of fuel" when there are still several gallons of fuel in the tank AND the fuel tank screen will NOT function except on fuel being returned to the tank (fuel that has already been filtered twice).
I attached a couple of pages from the maintenance manual showing the inline filter for several diesel models. The flex hoses lead to the right in each picture (and connect to the steel fuel supply line attached to the inner fender) is ONE of the two lines that is disconnected and goes into the Diesel Purge "jar." The OTHER flex line is the one that attaches to the adjacent steel line on the inner fender and is shown better in the Performance Products picture (there used to be a diagram in the Performance Products catalog - also attached).
