[MBZ] Odometer Question

Hello All,

I am trying to determine (guess?) if my miles are correct on my odometer.
I know that the previous owner had some transistors replaced in the
instrument panel.  Does the odometer ever or typically break in such a way,
electronically, that they stop recording miles on these W123's?  I know
about the bad gear problem.  I know this is a very speculative question.
