Hi All,

Normally, this would be a no-brainer - I'd
buy
the diesel - but with the
increase in diesel fuel and the price
differential between E300Ds and
comparable E320s, I'm having trouble seeing
the
best car to buy.
Here's the deal: my wife has a 4 day/week,
100
mile round trip commute.
She wants something safe, comfortable and
economical for the drive. My 1st
choice is a 96-99 E300D but they're pretty
scarce and when I find one they
have a ~ $5000 premium over a comparable gas
E320. Also, the price of
diesel keeps going up and last I checked was
around $2.40 - $2.50.
So, I have to factor in:
-- the rising cost of diesel fuel (of
course,
gas is getting really high
also)
-- the price premium for Gas Vs. Diesel
vehicles
-- the expected higher maintanence costs
for
the Gas engine
-- the longer lifespan & reduced maint of
a
diesel
-- most 96-99 E300Ds are high mileage.
-- ?? Anything else I've forgotten?

What do ya'll think??? Should I consider a
E320
or keep looking for a
reasonable 96-99 E300D
Thanks for your insight,
