Yes, the new OE harness are made of the same stuff. But, if you don't intend to keep the car more than another 10 years, that should suffice... then the next owner may get to repeat the treatment. Underhood heat may play a part in this. Whenever I park the car, I always pop the hood so things don't bake under there. Of course this isn't practical if you don't park in a locked garage. ;) The effort required to recreate the harness from superior materials would be enormous - personally I would not want to bother.
