Yeah, I was uncertain about that 'chirp' description but couldn't think of a better word at the time. It is almost certainly a piece of something that periodically gets to a position where the fan clips it. I do have a couple of MB CD's that just might have an exploded view of the area. Would such a thing be written up anywhere? BillR

But you say it sounds like a piece of paper in there? That isn't the same sound I am thinking of. I am thinking of something that does sound like a bird chirp. Now early warning is a relative term. Mine has being doing this on and off for 2.5 years and I am still staring at the replacement motor and birdcage (got from Kaleb I think) beside my desk. The answer is yes it's an amateur job but not quite as easy as it may first appear.
