I too had an Omni with the 1.6 motor...Was a pretty good little car really

Nope, Mitsubishi 2.6L or Mopar 2.2L in the K.
Horizon got VW 1.7, Peugot 1.6L, or Mopar 2.2L, all 1978-1981 had VW.
