I have one of the four stroke 2000w models and I love it. It runs the sump pump and lights very well if the power goes out. It will start the fridge sometimes but it doesn't like it. Power is not very clean or steady. I wouldn't suggest one for running a pc as it makes terrible interference when i tried to run the tv. Works great for power tools too. Weighs maybe fifty pounds. Runs for FIVE hours on one gallon of gas.

I see them for ~$150, 2000 watt, both 2 and 4 stroke. I have a 4500 watt that handles the fridge, TV and lights. That's all I really need down here in the south. However, I would like to have a back up for the back up that would be small enough to haul around by hand and use away from the house.
