Yep, you're renting it to them.
On the plus side, they paid us to plant trees. Oak & walnut turned out to be expensive deer food at $2 each, they went right down the rows and chewed up the saplings repeatedly until they gave up and died. Serviceberry turned out to not be suited to our growing conditions, the white spruce are doing great, and the crabapple are doing OK.
