Neighbor and I were growing some seedless white sort of grape. I removed mine a few years ago to redo the raised beds and now have a great sunny

As for the Marionberry/blackberry.... What sort of soil is it planted
in?

Pine tree potting soil. At least, so it seems based
upon its behavior. Can't keep the pine trees from sprouting
up everywhere. Decomposed granite, very well drained.
The lawn area, where they touched upon, had some kind of
topsoil trucked in, IMHO. Probably lake bed muck from
the nearby drained (20's) lake.

I am thinking it wants something peaty and moister.

They were right on the edge of the lawn, with drippers.

Being a real blackberry and not that invasive chinese sort, it needs more
care and good feeding. Bound to be warm enough by you for summer
growth.

Care? Feeding? Hmm, maybe I should try that sometime.

I just moved them out of the yard and over near the little
greenhouse. There's a water line there, too. I had to move
them or the excavator'd probably trample them.

I am investigating western washington grape growing so I can plant my
vineyard.

Don't hold your breath. My dad's been trying to grow Pinot Noir
for years. It's holding on, but the growing season is just a little
too short for them to ripen all the way, most years. This is a bit
north of Portland. Pinot does well south of Portland, but not to
the north. You're in worse shape, at least so far as the traditional wine grapes I'm aware of. You could probably make some nice Concord
wine...
