IIRC 2.8 = 93hp which is 'nuff said. I had one in an '88 GMC S15 Jimmy, mine
had a 5spd so it was fairly driveable (bit snappier off the line than a 2.2l
190D but worse on the highway) a friend had an auto which was a pig (think
240D). Mine would average 25mpg overall pretty much no matter what except for
long stretches in 4wd which brought it down to 18mpg... Great truck, I'd kill
to have another with no rust. I got rid of mine with ~ 150,000 miles on it, the
engine ran great, the body was rotten.

It is a 5 speed.  The pictures don't show any v-6 logo.  I have asked
what the engine is and what the mileage is.  It is reported to be
from GA, so there is no rust and it looks good.  That is unusual
around here.  Most of em rusted away years ago.  I gather maybe it
was driven by a lil ol man until he got too feeble to drive it.

18 MPG with 4WD seems pretty good to me.  My 66 Bronco didn't seem to
be able to do better than 10 MPG no matter what i tried.

The GM 2.8?  What does " 'nuff said" mean?  I have avoided GM like
the plague for 30 some years.  I gather you are saying to avoid the v-6.
