I used my Cub today to charge the motorcycle battery I ran down this morning and my 110ah (well thats what it was 6 years ago) marine battery which is currently powering my laptop and DSL modem.
I ordered: http://www.amazon.com/Eastern-Tools-Equipment-TG1200-Generator/dp/B000P9UOAC/ref=pd_cp_hi_0?pf_rd_p=413863601&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000QUZEBO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1DG9EENSAE5YMFT6N89T Based on the really nice reviews. Amazon says its shipped and should be here Wednesday. Keeping the fridge cold is not a concern, its below freezing now and could drop into the single digits tomorrow night. I'd just like to have the little genny for a few more lights and to keep the batteries topped. I do like using the batteries, the gentle hum of the inverter is the only way we know anything is up. I've been thinking about the Pincor generators for awhile and this will probably make me try to score one, the Cub's 7hp Kohler uses remarkably little fuel (gallon and a half an hour maybe) so I think this would work well. It'd also be nice at camp where somebody stole our last generator... -Curt Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2008 09:14:29 -0500 From: Mitch Haley <m...@voyager.net> Subject: Re: [MBZ] Backup generator To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Message-ID: <494271c5.50...@voyager.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed Curt Raymond wrote: > So sitting around thinking about how I'd like to have a little generator to > run my sump pump. Meijer (a local supermarket chain, kind of like Super Walmart) has a 45cc Chinese genny for $150, frequently on sale for $75-100. Rated 1000 surge, 850 continuous. Two stroke, but you've probably got premix on hand, at least in the winter. I don't know if Home Despot has anything similar. A friend bought one, weighs about 40lb, has enough compression that it's not easy to hold it down while you start it. We resorted to having one guy hold it down with both hands while the other guy pulled the cord. BTW, here's something I've been wanting to buy or build. Go to this page and search for "Pincor": http://www.ihcubcadet.com/forum/messages/5/95337.html?1224113985 Mitch. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
