buying food is not messing with the food supply. Tainting it is. ADM's price manipulation is (and they got a big fine). Kraft's manipulation of the Cheese Exchange in WI to alter commodity milk prices is (consequently gov't changed how they set milk subsidies).
If I buy a million twinkies and feed them to my parakeets, the govt won't give a shit. Just like If I buy 200+ lbs of VO and feed it to my car.
