My biggest complaint about Stern is that it takes him 3 pages to answer a question that could be answered in a sentence, or maybe a yes or a no. He is entitled to his opinion, as I am entitled to have my own opinion. Bosch or Hellas are good lights. I put hella H4s in my 66 ford van way back...I put them in my 200D way back. They are vastly better than the 6001 US sealed beam of the vintage. Even though a taiwanese replacement headlight may or may not be as optically pure as the lights that stern sells, I believe they will be as good as, or better than the 20 year old OE lights. That is all. It is a free market, and I could care less what anyone buys. caveat empor It is irritating to get flamed repeatedly for passing on my experience.

Now it seems Stern does sell lights for MB, although hurst insists that stern does not sell lights for MBs. I tend to believe the other participants of this list who say they have bought lights from stern for their MB.

I do not wash my engine daily with a toothbrush. I have driven MBs for 30+ years through all kinds of conditions, and punished them with some things a car should not have to endure. I have probably somewhere between 1 million and 2 million miles of accident free driving, much of it in MBs. A LOT of it has been at night and i do like having good headlights. I take reasonably good care of my cars, but I have other things to do rather than being anal retentive about a 1% difference and washing the engine with a toothbrush. I have found that a coating of oil and Diesel fuel helps to preserve an engine in the harsh climates. I do not live in a soft place like Hurst.

So flame away hurst. Dazzle us with your intelligence.

Grain of salt? No, a whole shaker, I believe. Stern trashes
everything unless you buy it from him. Biased? Self serving?

Sure, he's a little of that maybe. He *is* trying to sell you
something. But in my experience he knows his stuff. You can shop
around and try to find a good price and hope you are not buying
aftermarket crap, or you can ask Stern and probably pay more but also
get the results you wanted.
