In WA you can BYOB but you pay a corking fee. Sort of frowned upon,
but the place makes a little cash on the transaction for spinning the
cork screw

Also note that there is no American equivalent to Australian BYOB. If
you bring in your own bottle of wine and ask to be served it, you will
probably get a laugh, a stare of incomprehension, a polite escort to
the door, or all three. Fancy restaurants here make a big chunk of
their profits on ridiculous markups on wine---$30 for a bottle you can
buy for $10 in a grocery store, etc.
