The manual says: Engine oil - whatever is approved for the engine is
appropriate for the injection pump (later injection pumps are tied to
and lubricated by the engine lubrication system). Use what you use in
the engine! The lower screw on the side of the pump is to drain the oil
while the upper one seals the overflow port that is used to set the oil
level. Engine oil is poured in (usually displacing diesel fuel -
especially in an older engine). When diesel fuel stops running out of
the overflow and engine oil starts running out, the oil level is
appropriate. It is not necessary to check it EXCEPT when the engine oil
is changed. Then it should be checked and topped up IF NECESSARY.
