it is very sad...I now have three MB's to screw up  while learning rather than 
just one. Thank God I found a good Indy and  "learn" on the 240D rust

David,
 I had this same problem on a Ford several years back. Turned out to be the
right front tires tread
seperating from the carcus of the tire. Could not see it from the out side,
but it cause the right tire to be bigger at speed. Which caused the car to
pull to the left. If you put the spare back down and the problem goes away =
