Good suggestion, and I've considered it, but current watch style/design does
not lend itself to a leather band and I can wear this one for a few days
before it becomes uncomfortable, sometimes longer.

Why don't you just buy a leather band for the one you have?  Maybe like 
$10 and yer good ta go...  Or better yet, make one from MBTex and it 
will last forever!
