If you have the gear to cut open the cat, and weld it back together again, provided the tin is in good enough shape, I believe you can buy the internal cat material by the yard. I don't know the price, and I'm sure it's not "cheap", but probably cheaper than buying a new factory cat. I knew a guy who used to make custom systems for porsches, and he offered cats too. He was the one who told me the material was available by the yard, or meter as the case may be.
Or, just pluck one from the bone yard. The newer cats last a lot longer than the old ones, and there is no performance benefit to gutting a modern cat these days.
