you are absolutely correct. I helped a guy thru a restoration of a 280SE cabr. and it was $60k almost 20 years ago! Course that was when classic car prices were going crazy and he thought he'd get his money back. Shortly after he finished the prices started to slide -

Making money (or just breaking even) on the restoration of old cars is a tricky situation --and is often a losing proposition.
