Too bad you didn't take it to the stealer to get the trap oxidizer
replaced. They may have thrown in the turbo too, if it was already
bad.
There was always a faint whine or moan that I attributed as coming from the
transmission. The car had adequate power once the vacuum issues were sorted
out. I drove the car for several trouble free weeks after that until the
whining nosie escalated and the turbo disintegrated. I'll try to get them
to give me a break on labor to install the new turbo assembly..

I doubt it did anything real bad to the engine but its not a good thing for
sure. The ONLY way for the impeller blades to be worn off like he is saying
is for something to get sucked in. Only takes a second too. I am 99.9%
sure what I said happened is what happened. Its easy to do if you are not
paying attention when putting the air cleaner back on. In any case, the
shop should be picking up the tab for a new turbo and install.

Is that what would happen, assuming Kaleb's theory of the fat O-ring
getting
sucked in? Wow, time to start looking for a new engine already? Perhaps
the
shop that installed the engine will be so kind as to pick up the cost for
purchase and install of the new engine?

Didn't he say right from the start that the new engine didn't have as much
power
as the old one? I shudder to think of all those little pieces of metal
going
through the valves and cylinders. On second though I don't think I would
buy
this car. :-)

Glad to hear the mystery is solved! Curious that you didn't notice any
power
loss.
