It would be a simple calculation at http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/sc2.html

Try their calculator with the dimensions of your sunroof opening.

I should have been a bit more specific in my question [you know how

while driving I don't think it is possible to not have some water come

in. The car was sitting in a lot during the time in question, not

being driven, though the lot was far from flat and level. My question

was about the amount of water that should find a way into the drains

for the sunroof, because they will likely suggest that the drains were

plugged. My experience of that in years long past is that the water

trapped if the drains are plugged - in my case from driving during

sleet while living in Indiana - is that the excess water hit me square

in the back of the neck [at about 33 degrees] when I was stopping. I

just don't know enough about the physics of water handling in the 140

sunroof, though there had never been a leak before.

Subject: [MBZ] A strange question about leaks

Does anyone know how much water comes in through a closed sunroof on a

140 when it is sitting in the rain? I need to document the amount of

water under my back seat vs. the rainfall in the weeks prior to the

company moving it inside. What I hope to document is that the amount

of water [about a gallon] is in excess of what would come in through

the closed sunroof of a stationary 140 in 1.83 inches of rain over 4

weeks - with the car inside part of that time.

Hopefully sufficient evidence will have them decide to settle without

me needing to sue them [they get a fair amount of business from my

nephew].
