I was down to Quantico a couple weeks ago, flew into National and drove down. Its not terribly far and I was struck by how quickly it turns into real forest, as you say, without much suburban sprawl. Quantico is of course quite unlike the surrounding area. Had to drive slow so as not to hit deer. Apparently personnel on base are allowed to archery hunt in season. -Curt
