I am going to set up some of those for my undercounter lights in my new
kitchen and program several profiles, maybe put some motion/light
sensors around and what not to turn them on or adjust colors and
brightness for night, day, people in there, music?, etc. though the
music thing would probably get annoying very quickly. Ladyada says they
are plenty bright to work as undercounter lights, and are a lot cheaper
than the pucks at Lowes, plus you can get some interesting effects.
Last week I got my latest little project going -- a 16 segment 7LED
display showing indoor/outdoor temp, baro pressure, and humidity. It was
surprisingly simple once I figured out how to make the display do what I
wanted. Using a cheap Arduino clone and a really cheepcheep display
from dealextreme. Gotta put it all on a circuit board and build a nice
little box or three (for the sensors) to put it all in. I also want to
build a GPS unit for my bike, just need time...

That's nothing. They make multicolor LED strips with controllers that you can
set up to respond to your stereo output.
I was looking at them with my son (thank goodness he didn't want to put some in
his car!)
They are actually pretty cool, as it's easy to set up and cut the strips to
length and just plug them into the controller.
