Andrew,

Costco sells a nice looking lift.  Not going to be the full walk under sort, 
but seems to lift the car enough that you can use a cart to scoot around and 
wrench.

If you want a full height lift, look at your local auction house.  Around here, 
the auto shops and dealers are going bust and their toys end up at auction 
pretty regularly.  The costco lift goes for around $1500, which is about the 
price you can grab a real lift at auction.
