A couple years ago I taught a class at a TV station in Greenville, SC. Its not far from Charlotte so I flew into Charlotte, rented a car there and drove down. On the way I passed about a hundred barbecue places and joked about it at the station. They asked it I liked barbecue and when I gave the affirmative they said they'd take me for the "best barbecue in South Carolina!"
So we go to this place which is, no joke a former machine shop. Its an old Morton building that still smells of machine oil and the barbecue was pretty good. Well of course afterward they ask me if that wasn't the best barbecue I ever had and I allowed as how it was pretty good but not the best. They wanted to know where the best barbecue I'd ever had was and although I warned them that they wouldn't like the answer they still wanted to hear. I told them "Buck's Naked BBQ, Freeport, ME" http://www.bucksnaked-bbq.com/ now apparently in Windham and Portland as well.
