Once again, no one vehicle is right/best for all mission profiles. An electric car is fine for most urban driving. One would be fine for my wife's trips into town every week where she drives an average of 25 - 30 miles round trip. It would not be good for a road trip - that's what Diesels are for! We have the Passat which is OK for driving into town at 35 mpg, but better for road trips. I just got 49 mpg dropping our son at the airport - a 65 mile round trip - and have seen 53 mpg where the speed limits are lower (MI). The F150 gets horrible mileage (18), but it's the only reasonable way for me to haul fuel for the airplane and rocks/gravel for the wife.
