One of the new exotics (I forget which, maybe a Ferrari) has a tinted roof panel that uses liquid crystal tint. It goes from clear to opaque or anywhere in between at the twist of a knob. The Boeing 787 is supposed to have the same technology for the passenger windows, instead of the usual plastic pull-down sunshades.
