I wouldn't bet on that. I have driven for probably 10 years or more at a stretch without having a plugged filter. As long as fuel prices are stable. I had a filter plug after a bad load of fuel in 1988, and then didn't have a problem until 99 or so. I have had 3 plugged filters in the last year. I don't believe I ever had a plugged Diesel filter even in the 74-75 era. Had lotsa of problems with Gasoline then.

If the car is serviced according to the book, and filters are changed as scheduled, it is entirely possible to have an MB for 10-12 years and never encounter a plugged filter until now.
