I usedta shoot pigeons off the edge of the eaves (hidden gutter) areas,
maybe 35 to 40 feet, and up on the widow's walk rail, maybe 65-70 feet or
so, with a Crossman pellet gun. 'Haven't had to do it for several (7 or 8)
years (went through the generations, I guess, so there's none of 'em coming
back home). May tremor was bad then, and SWMBO was amazed that I could hit
anything - no tremor when I'd hold the gun against as tree to aim and fire.
'Could see the puff of feathers when the pellet struck; 'sometimes, if I
pumped it up a little more, I could see a puff of feathers on the backside
to indicate exiting pellet. I was always lucky enough that the bird could
still fly enough to "clear" the house and crash in the yard near me for
burial.

I was looking for some subsonic .22 ammo to pop squirrels but couldn't find
any around. What else might be good? I want to get them out to maybe
50-75ft but don't want too much travel after that. The pellet gun is OK in
that regard but it is a cheap one and the scope is always getting out of
line so I spend more time screwing with it than actually shooting
squirrels.

I used to use CB caps and BB caps to get rid of pidgeons in the barn.
THey won't go through the roof, but eliminated pests. CB looks like a
short, but basically has no powder, just the primer. The BB is shorter
and has a round ball.
Andrew needs to grow a set and eliminate pests.
I had a co-worker who was a bleeding heart and talked about that. I kept
telling her that the thing would just find somebody else's yard and if
that somebody else was like me it'd get killed there. So she was really
just hiring out the killing.
A college friend had squirrels in his attic a couple years ago. Critter
people wanted something like $20 each to trap and remove them. I offered
to "remove" them for a case of his homebrew. I sat at the top of his
attic stairs with a flashlight and my pellet gun. Took about 2 hours to
shoot 2 adults and 4 juveniles. Another two hours to find the holes they
were getting in through and fix them and he's been all set. Made sure he
and the family were gone for the day so the wife and kids find out what
was going on.
