I took a beginning riders class after I got my bike and I'm absolutely
convinced that everybody should have to at least have a motorcycle component in
driver's education. We should also have manditory driver education. You don't
want driver's education thats fine, you don't drive...
Oh and a refresher course every 10 years, manditory.

Much better driver since I took the beginning motorcycle riders course...

Simple. If a driver isn't looking, and swerves into the next freeway
lane and hits another car, they probably just trade paint and then
yell at each other after coming to a stop. Same scenario with a bike,
and the biker can end up in the morgue. BIG difference. Also the ratio
of bikes vs cars on the road at any given time has got to be about 1
in 20, at best. Having all cars loud would be stupid. Having all bikes
loud would be annoying, but functional - IMO. (Not that I'm suggesting
it.) Dont' get me started on DRL's... the arguments against them by
people who don't like them flat don't hold water when compared to the
benefits. Once again, they wouldn't be needed at all, if drivers used
common sense in turning on low beams when conditions require it. They
do not, so DRL's are the next best thing.

LAMO if only the hillscroggins actually understood that.

I was at a friend's shop this summer with my Honda and a guy with a Sportster
1200 came in. He was making fun of me for "only" having 900cc's. Apparently
hillscroggins can't count cylinders (my Honda CB900f has 4). When I was leaving
he tried to cut around me exiting the parkinglot. There was nobody coming so I
blipped the throttle and shot ahead of him. He thought he'd be a big man and
"race", but I was already gone...
We beat him up pretty bad the next time I saw him at the shop, his 2004
Harley getting beat by a 23 year old Honda with a smaller engine AND quieter
pipes.

Besides, if someone wanted increased performance, they wouldn't have
bought a
Harley to begin with! ;-)

Drove the car today - it's exactly as it should be. New ball joints, new
front seal on the tranny, new front and rear seals on the engine, new glow
plugs, fastidious maintenance history, two owners (one family) since new.
Even has the original window sticker.

285,xxx miles.

Little rust - one spot bubbling below the "300CD" emblem, one bubbling spot
on passenger front fender.

Also, the window sticker says "Orient Red" exterior and palomino leather
interior. Leather is perfect except for one small spot on the driver side
bolster. Non-smoking car.

Everything works but the A/C - needs new hoses. Still uses R12. Driver
seat needs new padding and box spring.

Guy wants $5400, but I'm sure he's flexible b/c he has way too many cars.
Talked to him and he said "I need another car like I need a hole in my
head."

I just bought a 1992 300Dt, so I think I'm going to pass on this one, but I
wouldn't have if the check hadn't already been cashed.
